If you doubt the government's intent to control your body and your health care, consider this:

If you refuse to accept government-imposed health insurance, you will be fined $1900. If you refuse to pay, you can be charged with a misdemeanor, fined up to $25,000 and jailed up to a year.

Here is the post from Politico:

Ensign receives handwritten confirmation

This doesn't happen often enough.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

The note was a follow-up to Ensign's
questioning at the markup.

Remember, according to the President, you are your brother's keeper...and he is yours!

  1. I'm afraid this note proves nothing. Go to this link and see for yourself that it's just a quote from US Tax Code about tax evasion.

If you demonstrate for us that there is a clear link between tax evasion and proposals for health insurance, we could evaluate your claim. As it stands, this is nothing more than hot air intended to sow fear. Please stop this bald-faced manipulation of truth.

  2. It seems pretty clear to me. They want to enforce mandatory health insurance by fines and imprisonment using the IRS and tax codes.

All Americans should stop paying their premiums for a month. See if that doesn't get the attention of the HMO's.

  3. The precedent has been set by the States. Mandatory auto insurance. They've just kicked it up a notch or three.
